This course provides an understanding of the social and professional context in which computing is done. It will let students understand where the discipline has been, where it is, and where it is heading. It will let them examine their individual roles, as well as appreciate the philosophical questions, technical problems, and aesthetic values that play an important part in the development of the discipline. The course will let them the evaluate social impact of computing and the practitioners’ responsibility and the possible consequences of failure.
